A Tale Of Madame Royale (continued)

Continued.....

“Did you meet your husband?” My Aunt asks.
We sit next to the crackling fire in my bed chambers while she brushes through my hair. I blush a deep red waving the topic away. “Yes, but nothing special”
“Nothing special you say? Well your mind seems to be elsewhere...perhaps thinking of the duke?”
“Auntie!” I exclaim. She gives a shrug and continues stroking. “I meant nothing against you my dear. But I do see you have been stricken by cupid, is this not true?”
I say nothing against her but only allow a small pause before replying. “I will not lie that he is not handsome or proud. But there is a difference between love and lust. I have not known one bit of him therefore I cannot truly declare my heart towards him”
My Aunt remains quiet but allows the slightest smile to crawl on her face when finished she raises to her feet and drops a bow. “How do you know these things my dear child?”
“I learned from the court Lady Aunt”
With that she laughs and embraces me tightly. “You are like a daughter to me my dear, I love you so”
“And you are like a second mother to me” I snuggle my head into her chest as she pats my back. “Goodnight dear, sleep well”
                                                                                               ***
The sudden choir of screams awake me in my sleep as I feel the damp sweat cling to my skin. A few ladies rush in as they kneel down. “Your Grace, Your mother calls...she is in childbirth”
The sudden announcement has me screaming orders for change of clothes.
Why my mother calls a girl that is only seven...I do not know. But I fear the worst, for what if she has a bloody birth as mine? After I was born it was said that only close family member’s would be able to attend the bearings of children. But was I to blame?
“Lady Marie I beg you to stand still” A women purses her lips waiting for some sort of temper tantrum to explode from me, but I remain quiet allowing her to continue.  Once finished I rush out the bed chambers, alongside with the helpers.
When the room is finally reached the ladies bow deeply and scurry off into different directions as if they are some lost mice. My father stands weakly in the middle of the room as he begs for me to join his side. Obeying I come forward. Alongside the king are his advisors and wet nurses as they hold tightly to the yelling Queen. “Mother?” I whimper. Father hushes me calmly reassuring that things will all be well.
But the annual screams cause me nothing but pain and uncontrollable wincing. “Mama...” Leaving my papa’s side I kneel before her weak body clutching tightly to her shaky hands. “My sweet daughter...” She cries as her grip hardens and I bite at my lip to contain the agony I feel inside of me. “One more push” the ladies cheer.
I feel my hand squash as my mother shuts her eyes and screams until the sudden cries of a baby interrupts her. Her grip loosens and she relaxes finally. Wet nurses rush to her aid as they take hold of the child and clean it carefully until a women rushes in to face both the king and Queen. “Well...?” My father questions anxiously. The lady smiles happily with her cheeks glowing a bright pink and for that there are no words to be spoken for my father breaks into a joyous laugh. “My dear Marie, dear, dear Marie” He kisses her hand until the baby is brought and papa announces with great happiness “Louis it shall be, are baby boy will be called Louis”
                                                                                               ***
On hearing the news brother is in great joy, for now he has another companion to play his toys with. As I sit with him and read out loud the ladies smile cooing over the newborn. “Sister?” my brother asks. “Yes child?”
“Shall mama and papa forget about me?”
I find myself smiling as I kneel by his side. “Of course not, you are the king Louis’s first son” My lips press against his warm forehead as he nestles into my arm. “I love you sister”My lips stay shut as I clutch his pale hands. “I love you as well my beloved brother”
When I return reading to my book Madame de Rambaud enters the room clutching onto the Prince. At once Louis and I bow the most gracefully we can and rise the quicker. “Madame” I smile, she curtseys in return and brother chirps as he walks over to the baby. “Louis be careful!” I warn as I soon join him.
The lady fixates her grey eyes onto me smiling proudly at my maturity. She sweeps her black curls from her pale face as she carefully hands the child into my arms. With the most utter amazement I take the squirming baby finding myself melt. Such beauty...
“Let me see sister!” Louis tugs at my arm and I scream in fear turning to lecture him. “Louis be gentle, you’ll hurt your sibling, you do not want that right?”
His sweet face drops as he nods. “No sister” “Now come...” I allow my tone to become gentler as his warm fingers press down on my skin allowing me to lower the child. Louis stares in curiosity until his attention dies out and he rushes back to play with his toys.
“Thank you Madame” I grant her a warm smile and she returns one back. Once she takes the baby from my hands I reseat myself next to Louis allowing my fingers to play with his blonde curls. “You are so young and they expect so much” of course he hears nothing of my mutters and continues on with his gun shooting noises.

Interview with Elizabeth Woodville (From the novel The White Queen)

It is an honor to meet you your majesty.
It is a pleasure as well.

Now I have a few questions to ask...if you do mind?

No, please do presume I shall listen most carefully.

Thank you. Now during the time period of the novel "The White Queen" the country is on the brink of war. Readers first meet you as a financially unstable widow trying to gather a certain mans attention for help. A young boy known by the title...King Edward IV. Now, I am most curious of your past life before your introduction to his grace. Can you please tell us?

I was born in 1437 at Grafton Regis, Northamptonshire as a daughter to my dear parents, Richard Woodville and Jacquette of Luxembourg. I was wedded to Sir John Grey and issued two of my beloved sons, Richard and Thomas. My husband was killed in the war and I was left a widow, with two children to tend for and no money on my side. It was decided when Edward took the throne that I would stand roadside and await to beg for help.

Was it really true love? And what happened after the meet?

It was indeed. I thought to trick him with some sort of love potion (stirred up my mother) but I instantly drowned when meeting his beautiful eyes. He loved me the same and so he stayed to dine with me at my home. When a deal was finally settled he walked round the gardens with my arms around his. I feel shamed to say so, but Edward attempted to bed with me. The charm speaking skill of his instantly had me falling head over heels. It was then when my senses came to me that I did the only courageous thing I could do, I  lashed his dagger out daring to slit my throat. He called for treason and disappeared so quickly I thought of never seeing his lovely face again. Not until a few days we met and we both confessed of our undying love that had caused us of fever and hunger. We later married in secret exchanging vows and spent an honeymoon in a lodge by the rivers.

When crowned Queen and given birth to you first daughter, Elizabeth of York did Edward have some sort of slight disappoint or you?

The ladies had informed me of the gender of my child when I finished giving birth. But after holding my beautiful Elizabeth in my hands I had no such fear of Edward's disappointment and so it seems neither did he. He treated her and loved her just as if she were a boy. We were after all, both young and still able to have a prince and heir to the throne. When my long annual pregnancies came close to an ending a boy had come to the family, and once again all was well just as it was before.  Elizabeth, just as I expected turned as pretty as a delicate rose... and so did all the children.

Thank you Elizabeth, your highness it was a great honor meeting you.

You are much too kind, It was a great pleasure being here.

So there you have it, an interview with the "White Queen". Stay tuned for some more reviews and meetings with other family royalties, perhaps even an English Tudor...Anne Boleyn?

A Tale Of Madame Royale

So after much contemplating I have decided to post some pages of my fanfic/fictional/historical short story dedicated to the daughter of Marie Antoinette, Madame Royale or in other words Marie Therese.

I do warn you it is still in it's draft state and must go through plenty of editing. Remember this story is purely for the enjoyment of writing! The facts are a bit mixed in and I still must continue with my research, but for now I hand you my rough draft.

PS

Marie Therese was not betrothed to Louis Antoine when she was a child. After the revolution Marie married her first cousin in hopes of gaining some power to the throne. It lasted for 20 minutes and the two finally signed a document. I wanted to tamper a bit with some facts so it could suit my taste. Luckily it is still filled with important information

So here it is;

Today is most important. As I my ladies run around the room gathering bows, gowns and cloaks, others powder my face and rub red charcoal around my high cheeks.  Louis Antoine, Duke of Angouleme- my soon to be husband visits today and mother is determined to have him impressed.
“You are most charming” I hear a lady whisper. She curls my hair with her finger smiling into the mirrors reflection. My dear Aunt, Elisabeth is a close friend of mine. She reaches the age of twenty four and is a true and loyal companion. Her looks are quite charming as she has the most pretties blonde mane and darkest brown eyes. She is unmarried just as all her sisters, which makes it more of a goal for mama to have me wedded. “I am nothing but ugly” I scorn at myself. My Aunt gives out a boastful laugh as she clutches me closely. “A beauty you are my dear. You inherit your looks from your mother”. My face softens at the mention of the Queen of France Marie Antoinette, the parent that had given life to me, who had carried me in her womb.
It is quite true that Marie is a magnificent face, but hated round the country. They name her cruel titles such as; “The other bitch”. I suppose I am not much compared to her. Perhaps they as well taunt me in these words.
“Lady Aunt, why impress a man I have no idea of or how he looks? For all I think, the marriage will end in unhappiness”
“Now Marie Therese, do you truly think a father such as yours would wed his most loved child into such marriage?”
“I see why not. It is a smart move; he gains political power and love from his people.  Do not forget as well   he has a son...a much more important child in a royal family.”
She gasps at this as she shakes her head disapprovingly. “Dear, dear girl...has your mind been tampered with such ill thinking? In a shaky world as now I see no reason why your 4 year old brother could be so powerful. For all we know the people of France can gather in uproar” Her hands play with my golden hair while the other ladies tie a corset around my waist.
“Now look upon at yourself girl. An independent, beauty...you are a queen my child.” She lifts my chin examining me as if I am a piece of art, her eyes gaze deeply into my sea green ones as a smile cracks upon her face. “Go on your grace, we have finished”

                                                                                         ***
The gathering hall is beautiful, in view and architecture. My father and mother had spent a great deal of wealth into a room such as this and it is quite visible, with a chandelier hanging above the painted dome, a golden staircase twirling around the marble floors and a deep painted blue wall printed with gorgeous wildflowers.
As a group of ladies hang behind me my mother and Father enter the room talking enthusiastically with a young gentleman adorned with a green material. A sudden hush sweeps by the girls as their eyes lay on the handsome man.
“Ah there is my daughter!” The King of France, Louis the sixteenth holds his large nose high as he escorts his lively wife towards me. My mother stares at me confidently giving an approved nod.
“Your Grace” followed by the sound of the ladies behind, we all on cue curtsy deeply as he nods and kisses both my peachy cheeks. “Come stand my pretty little girl” He breaks into a wide grin smile as he holds my slender hands into his large sweaty ones.  I quickly meet the eyes of my 10 year old betrothed.
A man of black hair, blue eyes, and of fair complexion. I feel myself melt but quickly I stand tall and lift my chin to meet his squared jaw.  “Your majesty” He lifts his blue hat and bows just as smoothly as when I raise my hand to his lips, in which he kisses slowly. My heart drops a beat and he gazes back to my shocked face. But cleverly I disguise my look and turn to face the group of mad giggling girls.
Madame Belle” His French needs quite the work but as I learned, I face him and bat my eyes the most prettiest a girl can at the age of seven. In return he gives a proud grin. A sudden warmth blares inside me as I feel the eyes of my mother on my neck and she quickly interferes saving me from further embarrassment. “Shall we show you the gardens?” She inquires.
He turns to answer as his beautiful eyes sweep away to face them. “That would be lovely, your majesty”
So that's it for now...leave some comments below and ideas on what I can prove and if you want more ongoing chapters :)
